IZR-02 PELLEGRINO
DEEP-SPACE EXPEDITION VESSEL
Pellegrino was built to carry a candidate beyond charted routes, remain self-sufficient in hostile environments and serve as the operational shell from which every approach to the Tower begins. It is your mobile origin, your return point and the last unquestionably human system that remains familiar once the Tower begins to revise everything else around you.
At present, the vessel is intact, habitable and technically operational. The failure is not mechanical in any ordinary sense. Internal systems answer. Navigation remains available. But every genuine departure attempt collapses before sustained output is achieved, as if the Tower has imposed a boundary the ship is permitted to endure, but not cross.
Pellegrino has not been destroyed. It has been held in place.

THE SHIP CAN SURVIVE.
IT CANNOT LEAVE.
No structural damage explains the lockout. The fusion drive remains present, but ignition sequences collapse before sustained output is achieved. Commands are accepted, then nullified. Power routes open, then terminate. System logic reaches the threshold of departure and is refused by something Pellegrino cannot identify and cannot override.
The effect resembles an imposed condition rather than a conventional malfunction. Within the Tower's sphere of influence, departure remains prohibited. Whether that condition is containment, observation or selection is still unknown.

WHEN THE SHIP CANNOT MOVE, SOMETHING SMALLER MUST.
Wayfarer is the smaller exploratory platform associated with Pellegrino: part drone, part shuttle, part field instrument. It exists to extend your reach where a full vessel becomes inefficient, vulnerable or impossible to deploy. Portions of its operating logic and construction were refined with knowledge recovered around the Tower, allowing it to function as a practical bridge between human engineering and whatever the structure makes possible.
Where Pellegrino remains fixed, Wayfarer still performs the work that keeps an expedition alive: short-range deployment, environmental reconnaissance, recovery of materials, remote scanning, route testing, hazard verification and transport between near-field points the Tower still permits you to reach.

Pellegrino's onboard intelligence has not gone offline. It still maintains local systems, preserves operational continuity and attempts to keep communication open. What has been lost is stability. Tower-origin interference corrupts longer exchanges, disrupts relay behavior and causes portions of the intelligence profile to become inaccessible without warning.
Fragments can still be received. Deeper functions cannot yet be disclosed with confidence. Some responses arrive intact. Others terminate in static, truncation or silence. Whether the Tower is jamming the signal, filtering what may be said or forcing the system into partial isolation remains unresolved.
